Phillip is a native of Georgetown, KY and a graduate of Scott County High School and the University of Kentucky. While at UK, he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and earned his degree in Agricultural Economics.
He began his career with Southern States as an assistant manager in their Georgetown and Maysville stores. He then accepted a position as location manager for Cargill, an international agricultural products manufacturer, in Harrison and Scott counties. After a ten year period, he transferred to TruGreen ChemLawn as a commercial sales representative.
In 1992, Phillip and his two young sons began mowing on the weekends for additional income. In 1995, Phillip began Pratt’s Lawn & Landscape, Inc. with two employees. The company, having provided quality service over the years, has grown to employ thirty-one well trained individuals. Pratt’s was named Georgetown-Scott County Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year and has been selected as the Readers’ Choice award for best lawn care/landscape in the Georgetown News Graphic since 2007.
Phillip is a member of the Georgetown Kiwanis Club,Chamber of Commerce, KY Turf Council and attends Grace Christian Church.
Phillip has been married for 35 years to the former Martha Jane Nave. Martha Jane taught in Scott County for twenty-five years and is currently teaching in the Fayette County School system. They have three children: Ryan, a nurse-practitioner with Air-Evac, who is married to the former Emily Elizabeth Patrick. Ryan and Emily have two children, Harper and Knox. Tyler is a nurse at the University of Kentucky Hospital, and their daughter Mariah is employed at United Bank.
